Now on the market for £ 850,000, the cattery itself started out as a ‘very small and run down place’ 16 years ago when the couple first arrived.

But after shedding their blood, sweat and tears on the premises over the years and completely redeveloping the cattery, it is now home to 95 cats and has a five-star animal welfare rating.

The cattery charges £ 10 per day for individual cats and has 35 individually heated chalets in the garden.

It was completely refitted in 2016, which means that a new owner will benefit from it for many years to come – without the need to invest more in the business.

Speaking about their decision to sell the cattery and the accompanying four-bedroom house, former schoolteacher Wendy and her husband – who run her own consultancy business – said they would be sadly missed by ‘each’ of their friends. furry.

But the couple are considering retiring and think it’s a good time to let someone else take the reins of the cattery.

Wendy said: “It’s quite emotional to part with it – if it wasn’t the time for us to retire, I think we would stay here forever.

“We have gotten to know our customers over the years, and many of them have become our friends.

“We are now seeing the children of some of our former clients come in, all adults, and looking to board their cats. I think we would have started seeing grandchildren soon too. “

But Wendy said she and Graham plan to stay in Norwich – and will continue to visit the cattery from time to time.

She said: “I hope whoever buys it appreciates having us to show them the ropes.”

The couple believe the business would suit a “vibrant, younger, cat-loving family.”
