San Bernardino to Offer Pet Adoption Discounts as Part of ‘Clear the Shelters’ Event – Redlands Daily Facts
San Bernardino will be offering a month of pet adoption discounts starting Monday, August 23, as part of NBC’s annual “Clear the Shelters” event.
The Chandler Place Animal Shelter is one of hundreds of participants.
Launched in 2015, the annual event ends on September 18.
San Bernardino will offer various discounts and promotions to encourage adoption and open spaces in kennels, Animal Services Director Kris Watson said this week.
Despite full shelter, the department recorded a 94% saving rate for dogs from January through June, Watson said.
The adoption fee – which will be announced at the start of each week – includes sterilization, the microchip, and placement fees for dogs and cats.
Interested parties can visit “SBCityPets” on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or call 909-384-1304, for more information.
San Bernardino is in the process of makeover his shelter for more than 50 years.
Two buildings were demolished, electrical upgrades were made and dog play areas were created. The cat building has a new HVAC system and new signage was installed last week.
Watson expects two new modular buildings to be delivered this month.
“With the support of the community, the mayor, city council as well as city staff, the animal services department has made significant improvements to the shelter’s facilities and programming,” Watson said via email. “With the continued support, we are now able to help more animals and people in need than we previously thought.”
The refuge is at 333 Chandler Place, San Bernardino.
