Here’s an Art Exhibit in the Yucaipa Animal Placement Society’s Cage-Free Cattery – Redlands Daily Facts
The Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS) is hosting its first Creative Critters Art Show from 5:30-8 p.m. on Friday, February 25 in the YAPS cage-free cattery.
The event will feature artwork created by over 40 Yucaipa High School students, artwork by Yucaipa High School art teachers, and artwork by 10 local artists.
The donated art will be auctioned off to the highest bidder via a silent auction and all proceeds will benefit YAPS homeless cats and dogs pending adoption, according to a press release.
Entries from participating students will be eligible to win prizes. The auction and prices will be announced at 7 p.m.
Local artists who have donated artwork for the show are Athene Johnston, Kitty Stephens, Janet Esparza and Carol Lima, who are members of the Redlands Art Association; and Mike McAlmond, Marsi Gutierrez, Aurora Cobb, Mary Beth Coutts, Jeff Rosenfeld and Dave McGann.
Stephens and Esparza also serve as jurors for works submitted by Yucaipa High School students.
Athene Johnston, another member of the participating Redlands Art Association, is 90 and has been most prolific with her art in her 80s. She studied oil painting in college and later took a refresher course at Crafton Hills College under Marc Wurmbrand.
“You’re never too old to appreciate art,” Johnston said in the press release. “Art taught me to really observe my surroundings.”
Free entry. Food, beverages and YAPS merchandise will be available for purchase.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP to [email protected] or 909-790-1440.
